A Gulfport man has pled guilty to brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. According to court documents, Rusty Holloway, 42, brandished a firearm on October 20, 2022, at a U.S. Postal employee mail carrier while she was delivering mail to a residence in Gulfport.
Holloway is scheduled to be sentenced on October 17, 2024. He faces a minimum penalty of seven years in prison and a maximum of life in prison. A federal district judge will determine the sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee and Inspector in Charge Scott Pierce of the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, Southern Area Field Office, made the announcement.
The United States Postal Inspection Service is investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Jones is prosecuting the case.
