Hinds County Economic Development Authority Esteemed Board of Trustees has appointed Tamika Jenkins, a 15-year skilled veteran, as the new Executive Director.
Tamika Jenkins prior economic development experience will be a great advantage as she moves forward with the mission of Hinds County. She served as Vice President of the Mississippi County, Arkansas Economic Development Authority. In 2021, she earned her Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), the top designation for economic developers.
She is no stranger to collaborating with people from all levels of society. Her arduous work has assisted in creating jobs, leading workforce development initiatives, establish partnerships, working with non-profit organizations, and becoming a key player in collaborating with communities and businesses to develop working relationships and strong partnerships throughout the South. A background in engineering and project management and her executive skills will start and finish projects, moving forward to the next. Currently, she serves as the board president at the Mississippi County Union Mission. Additionally, she was instrumental in bringing KIPP School to Mississippi County, served on the Great River Charitable Clinic Executive Board, and was involved with the White House Rural IMPACT Project created to attack generational poverty. Tamika's accolades include being among the top 10 Northeast Arkansas Women in Business, 2021 AY Intriguing Women, and AR Money and Politics Magazine "2021 Influencers of the Year". In addition, she has completed numerous leadership programs to assist with her educational goals and community involvement.
She is the proud mother of Jabari. She is also an active member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, and works with youth.
Hinds County Economic Development Authority’s Executive Director, Tamika Jenkins will conduct the mission to establish, maintain, and carry-on programs of diversified economic development that result in the realization of Hinds County serving as the primary business and employment center for the Jackson metropolitan area.
