U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has cast her vote in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025, which recently passed in the Senate. This comprehensive defense policy bill incorporates legislation introduced by Hyde-Smith to ensure that students serving in the National Guard and Reserve are guaranteed readmission to their educational institutions following deployment.
The NDAA sets forth policies and funding guidelines for the forthcoming FY2025 Defense Appropriations Bill, which will allocate funds for Department of Defense activities. The bill is now awaiting approval from the White House to be enacted into law.
Hyde-Smith emphasized the importance of the NDAA, stating, "The NDAA is crucial because it adjusts policy and funding recommendations to meet current and future requirements to strengthen our national security. This measure is far from perfect given the current administration and congressional makeup, but it does include key policy changes to support servicemembers and their families while ending misguided ‘woke’ policies."
