U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) has shared a message for Thanksgiving Day, encouraging Mississippians to "give thanks – not just for the good, but for the strength we find in the challenges, and the hope that carries us through."
In her statement, Hyde-Smith expressed her wishes for a happy and peaceful holiday to all Americans. She emphasized using this time to reflect on the blessings in the United States, including family, cherished freedoms, and opportunities for building a better future.
Hyde-Smith highlighted gratitude towards military personnel and first responders: "Today and every day, we are especially grateful for the brave men and women in uniform whose sacrifices protect our freedom; for the dedicated first responders who keep us and our communities safe; and for all of their families who may be gathering without them today."
She also urged people to remember those facing difficulties: "As we celebrate, let’s also remember those who may be struggling – whether through hardship, illness, or loneliness. In these times, we should extend a helping hand to our neighbors and show the love and compassion that make us strong as a people."
Reflecting on biblical teachings from First Thessalonians, she stated: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Hyde-Smith concluded with well-wishes: "May God bless you, your families, and our beloved country. Happy Thanksgiving – I hope it is filled with peace, joy, and gratitude!"
