Hinds County’s 235 coaches earned an average salary of $46,889 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the ninth lowest average salary per county earned by coaches at Mississippi post-secondary schools during 2022.

Hinds County is home to five post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Jackson State University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $93,572.

Male coaches of men's teams received $59,454 on average in Hinds County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $41,502.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
