U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) has released a statement expressing her concerns about the Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024, a compromise bill aimed at addressing the border crisis and national security needs under the Biden administration.

In her statement, Hyde-Smith highlights the seriousness of the situation at the southern border since President Biden took office. She describes it as a "serious and growing national security and humanitarian crisis." Hyde-Smith criticizes President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for their failure to enforce existing laws.

"Most Americans understand that, since President Biden took office, the situation at our southern border has grown to become a serious and growing national security and humanitarian crisis. The President and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have shown us over and over that they are unwilling to enforce existing law," Hyde-Smith states.

Hyde-Smith emphasizes her commitment to securing the border and working on legislation to address long-standing border security and immigration policies. However, she expresses her inability to support the current border policy bill, stating that it is not the solution to the problems caused by the administration's open border policies. She expresses her lack of confidence in President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas to effectively enforce the proposed legislation.

"I’ve said before that securing the border is a top priority for me and that I’m willing to work on legislation to fix our long-standing border security and immigration policies. However, I cannot support this border policy bill, which is not the answer to begin correcting all the problems caused by the administration’s open border policies. Given their record, I have very little confidence that President Biden or Secretary Mayorkas would actually enforce it," Hyde-Smith explains.

Hyde-Smith's statement reflects the concerns of many Americans regarding the border crisis and the need for effective border security measures. As the debate over immigration policies continues, politicians like Hyde-Smith play a crucial role in shaping the legislation and ensuring the security and well-being of the nation.
