Baseball Drops 4-2 Decision to Millsaps

The Belhaven Baseball team dropped the second game of the 2023 Cowboy Maloney Series on Tuesday night, falling to Millsaps 4-2 at Trustmark Park. The season series is now even at a game apiece with the finale set for three weeks from today.

After both teams were held hitless through the first two innings, Millsaps got on the board first in the top of the 3rd after an RBI single gave the visitors a 1-0 lead. Belhaven answered with a run of their own in the home half of the 4th as Nick Lucido drove in Kyle McLaughlin with a sacrifice fly to center.

The Majors immediately responded in the 5th with runs on a pair of RBI triples and a fielding error.

Owen Abney created a spark off the bench with a leadoff pinch-hit double in the bottom of the 8th. Matthew Charbonnet's RBI infield single scored Abney from third and cut the deficit to just 4-2 with six outs to go.

After Logan Goodreau held the Majors scoreless in his third inning of relief, the Blazers could only muster a baserunner in the 9th as the Majors left Trustmark Park with a 4-2 win.
