How It Happened

Jackson State started out the scoring by going on an 11-0 run, culminating in a three from Coltie Young, to take an early lead with 15:54 left in the first half. The Tigers then added four points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 34-19 advantage. Jackson State relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down five shots to account for 15 of its 34 points.

Florida A&M proceeded to take a 53-52 lead before Jackson State went on a 15-0 run to seize a 67-53 lead with 36 seconds to go in the contest. The Rattlers narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Tigers still cruised the rest of the way for the 69-58 win.
