Franklin County ranked seventh in state for resident earnings in 2017

Franklin County ranked seventh among counties in Mississippi by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Franklin County residents was an inflation-adjusted $25,141 per year. Franklin County had 3,097 households in 2017, with a population of 7,772.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Madison County. Madison County's median income was $35,218 per year after adjusting for inflation – $10,077 more than Franklin County. It had 38,405 households in 2017 and a population of 102,212.

Humphreys County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Mississippi, with a median income of only $14,583 per year. That was $10,558 less than the median income in Franklin County at the time. Humphreys County had 3,119 households in 2017 and a population of 8,678.
