U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith expressed her condolences following the death of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Loyd Eaves, a Brooksville native. Eaves was one of three soldiers who died in a mid-air collision involving their helicopter and a passenger airline near Washington Reagan National Airport on Wednesday night.

Senator Hyde-Smith stated, “My heart breaks for Andrew Eaves’ family, friends, and fellow servicemen. So many Mississippians will share in the tears and suffering of all the families affected by this terrible accident.” She emphasized that while details about the accident are still emerging, it is important to remember the loss suffered by the families and acknowledge the bravery of those who served.

The senator concluded her statement with a message of support: “I lift up my prayers to all who knew and loved Andrew, and the other victims of this deeply saddening tragedy.”
