Northside High School secured the 2026 Boys Class 2A Basketball Championship with a 51-39 victory over Pelahatchie Attendance Center on March 7, 2026. The game, part of the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) series, saw Northside establish an early lead and maintain control throughout.
Northside led 8-6 after the first quarter and extended its advantage to 22-14 by halftime. A decisive 14-3 run bridging the end of the second quarter and start of the third put Northside ahead by double digits. Jamarion Johnson contributed eight points during this stretch, with support from Dai’qwaunn Price and Xavier Thomas. By midway through the third quarter, Northside held a comfortable margin at 27-16.
Johnson was Northside’s top performer, finishing with 21 points, six rebounds, and three three-pointers. Price added 11 points and nine rebounds. Thomas recorded seven points, six rebounds, and two assists as Northside out-rebounded Pelahatchie by a margin of 38 to 26.
For Pelahatchie Attendance Center, Laterrion Irvin scored 21 points and collected seven rebounds. Kaiden Davis had six points while Tyson Beeman contributed five. Despite shooting just under one-third from the field (14-of-43), Pelahatchie closed within six in the fourth quarter before Johnson responded with consecutive three-pointers to secure the win for Northside.
Both teams finished with an equal number of turnovers (17 each). Northside shot 19-of-43 from the field compared to Pelahatchie’s identical attempt total but higher accuracy from beyond the arc for Pelahatchie (4-of-16).
The championship marks a significant achievement for Northside High School’s basketball program this season.
