The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame is set to induct its Class of 2025 during the Induction Weekend scheduled for August 1-2, 2025. This year’s class comprises eight individuals from various sports backgrounds, including football, basketball, baseball, and golf.
Among those being honored are Scott Berry, who served as head baseball coach at the University of Southern Mississippi for 14 seasons and led the team to nine NCAA tournament appearances. Steve Freeman is recognized for his achievements as a defensive back at Mississippi State and in the NFL; he currently serves as an NFL official. Mike Justice’s coaching career spans high school football with a record of 297 wins and four state championships over 35 years.
Dexter McCluster is noted for his time as an Ole Miss All-SEC and All-American running back, receiver, and kick returner before embarking on an eight-season NFL career. Derrick Nix made his mark as a star running back at USM and continues to contribute to college football as part of Auburn’s coaching staff.
In basketball, Steve Rives has accumulated over 700 career wins through successful coaching tenures at Jackson Prep and Delta State University. Golf professional Robbie Webb has been influential in mentoring junior golfers at Canton Country Club and Deerfield.
Mo Williams rounds out the class as the current head basketball coach at Jackson State University. A Murrah High School graduate, Williams played college basketball at Alabama before enjoying a 13-year NBA career.
Tickets for the induction event are available now. The public can meet the inductees on Saturday, August 2 from 10 am to 11:30 am at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will feature a ticketed reception starting at 5:30 pm followed by the program at 7 pm at the Clyde Muse Center.
