Mississippi high school basketball championships set for March at coliseum

The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) has released the schedule for the 2026 Basketball Championships, which will be held at the Mississippi Coliseum. The semifinals began on Monday, March 2, and continue through Thursday, March 5. Championship games are set to take place from Thursday evening through Saturday, March 7.

In the Class 6A Girls semifinals on Monday, Olive Branch narrowly defeated West Jones with a score of 41-40. Neshoba Central advanced after a decisive win over Forest Hill, finishing 64-27. For the boys’ Class 6A bracket, Terry overcame Canton with a score of 63-53 while Pascagoula edged out Callaway in a close game that ended 53-51.

The Class 1A Girls saw Okolona defeat Simmons by three points (50-47), and Ingomar secure a victory over Richton with a final score of 55-47. In the boys’ division for Class 1A, Leflore County beat West Union (53-48), and Calhoun City won against Piney Woods (44-35).

Semifinal action continues Tuesday with matchups in Classes 4A and 7A for both girls and boys teams. Wednesday’s schedule includes Classes 2A and 3A contests, while Thursday morning is reserved for Class 5A semifinals.

Championship games begin Thursday night with the Class 6A Girls at 6:00 pm followed by the Boys at 8:00 pm. Finals for other classifications will be played throughout Friday and Saturday.

Television coverage will be available across several local stations including ME TV (WAPT Channel 16.2) in Jackson, WLOX Bounce (13.2) on the Gulf Coast, WCBI-MY MS (Channel 4.2) in Northeast Mississippi, WTOK myTok (11.2) in Meridian, WDAM BOUNCE (7.3) in Hattiesburg, WHCQ Channel (8.1) in Cleveland, WPRZ Channel (12) in Clarksdale, and WEBU Channel (22.1) in Oxford.

Fans can also watch live video streams online via NFHS Network at www.misshsaa.tv or listen to radio broadcasts provided by ESPN Radio on FM station 105.9. Individual school broadcasts may vary depending on each matchup.

The MHSAA championships represent an important event for high school basketball teams across Mississippi as they compete for state titles during this week-long tournament.
