Mississippi High School Activities Association announces 2025-2026 Lindy Callahan Scholar Athlete winners

The Mississippi High School Activities Association announced on Apr. 2 the recipients of the 2025-2026 Lindy Callahan Scholar Athlete awards. The announcement named sixteen student-athletes from across eight districts who were selected for their achievements.

The Lindy Callahan Scholar Athlete award recognizes outstanding high school students in Mississippi who excel both academically and athletically. The honor is awarded annually to one female and one male student from each of the association’s eight districts.

This year’s honorees include Emma Kate Beckham of Wheeler School and Rylen Mounce of Pontotoc High School representing District I; Eleanor (Ellie) Claire Jones from Oxford High School and Gavyn Bronach Leary from Lafayette High School for District II; Kaitlyn K. Price of Thomas Edwards Senior High School and Charles (Charlie) David Ray of Riverside High School for District III; Emily May Finkley from Grenada High School and Cameron Jackson Skeen from Louisville High School for District IV.

Other winners are Julia Nicole Harrison from Union High School and James Connor Holifield (Connor) of West Jones High School in District V; Kinsley Cole Woods at Lake High School and Wilkes Patrick Carter at Puckett High School in District VI; Abigail (Abbie) Katherine Holder at Bogue Chitto School with Brendon Robert Duguid at Wesson Attendance Center representing District VII; Makynley Christian Groom at Picayune Memorial High, along with Sullivan (Sully) Tresslar May at Resurrection Catholic High, representing District VIII.

The recognition highlights these students’ dedication to both their studies and sports, reflecting the values promoted by the Mississippi High School Activities Association.
