The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) and the Mississippi Association of Coaches have announced the winners of the 2026 “Mr. Basketball” and “Miss Basketball” awards, presented by C Spire.

The Miss Basketball award recipients for each class are: Daylen Grisham from Ingomar High School (1A), Mariyah Farrell from Heidelberg High School (2A), Lamaya Southward from Booneville High School (3A), Kazli Timbes from Tishomingo County High School (4A), Kayllis Walker from Laurel High School (5A), Shamira Morton from Canton High School (6A), and Jada Gay from Starkville High School (7A). Shamira Morton is the only repeat winner this year, having previously won in Class 5A. Ingomar’s streak continues as Grisham keeps the award at her school following Macie Phifer’s three-year run. Tishomingo County also holds onto its title for a second consecutive year.

The Mr. Basketball honorees include Jon Grey Morrisson of West Union High School (1A), Zion Grant of Pelahatchie High School (2A), Wilson McDonald of Alcorn Central High School (3A), Landon Hall of Pass Christian High School (4A), Mike Hood of Columbus High School (5A), Blake Nettles of Pascagoula High School (6A), and Sam Funches of Germantown High School (7A). All seven student-athletes are first-time winners for this award. Morrisson was also recognized as “Mr. Baseball” for Class 1A in 2025.

All award recipients will be honored during the 2026 Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Big House Classic MHSAA State Championships at the Mississippi Coliseum, scheduled for March 2-7. In addition, they will be celebrated at a special awards luncheon on March 10 at the MHSAA Conference Center, which will be live streamed on the NFHS Network.
