The Jackson State women’s tennis team secured a 4-2 victory against the Dillard Bleu Devils on March 23, extending its winning streak to two matches.
This result highlights the team’s recent momentum as they continue their season. The Tigers’ performance was marked by strong doubles play and resilience in singles competition.
Tiara Alvarez and Daniela Tovar gave Jackson State an early advantage with a 6-2 win at number three doubles. Victoria Linkovski and Helen Hernandez followed up with a 6-3 victory on court one, earning the Tigers the doubles point. In singles play, Alvarez claimed the first point after her opponent retired due to injury. Hernandez added another point with a straight-set win of 6-1, 6-4 from number four singles. Junior Paula Corbalan overcame an initial set loss to secure back-to-back wins of 6-2 and 6-4 on court one, sealing the match for Jackson State.
With this win, Jackson State has achieved its sixth victory of the season. The Tigers will next travel to Montgomery for conference matches against Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M scheduled for March 27 and March 28.
