Jackson State track and field achieves six personal bests at UAB Invite

Six athletes from the Jackson State track and field team achieved personal bests at the UAB Invite held in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday. The event also saw two top-three finishes for the team.

Nedgine Morancy secured second place in the women’s triple jump with a distance of 11.65 meters. Sedgwrick Pitts Jr. finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.32 seconds.

Other athletes who set new personal records include Karina Griffin in the 400-meter race, Collins Kibet, Lorine Jelagat, and Joan Koech in the 3,000 meters, Malayna Mallory in the weight throw, and Godfrey Kimutai in the mile run.

The Tigers will compete next at the Bulldog Invite hosted by Samford University on Friday, February 13.
