Jackson State University’s football team achieved a significant victory over Alabama A&M, winning 57-24 in the Gulf Coast Challenge at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. The Tigers recorded more than 700 yards of total offense, with 388 rushing yards and 314 passing yards on 80 plays. This performance marked the highest offensive output for Jackson State since they accumulated 638 yards against Mississippi Valley State in 2022 and was their third consecutive game with over 500 yards of offense.
Quarterback JaCobian Morgan completed 70 percent of his passes, finishing with 314 passing yards and four touchdowns without being sacked. He connected with seven different receivers during the game. Jameel Gardner Jr. led the receiving corps with eight catches for 84 yards, while Shemar Savage contributed two touchdown receptions among his three catches for a total of 91 yards. Ja’Naylon Dupree also caught three passes for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
Morgan also led Jackson State’s running game, rushing for 120 yards on twelve carries and scoring one touchdown. Travis Terrell Jr. added another strong performance on the ground with seven carries for 103 yards. Donerio Davenport and Ahmad Miller each ran for 72 yards, with Davenport adding a touchdown.
On defense, Quincy Ivory made ten tackles, including one tackle for loss and three quarterback hurries. Tymon Wells had seven tackles, while Jace Ward and J’Cori Hargon each finished with six; Ward also recorded his first interception.
Jackson State maintained control throughout the game, taking an early lead with a field goal and extending it to double digits before halftime.
The Tigers will play their next game at home against Alabama State next Saturday at 2:30 p.m., which will be broadcast on ESPNU.
