Jackson State University’s baseball team will begin an eight-game road trip on Tuesday night, starting with a matchup against New Orleans. The game is set for 6:30 p.m. at Maestri Field and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The two teams have played each other 34 times, with New Orleans leading the series 24-9-1. Jackson State won their last meeting in a close contest, 15-14, on April 30.
Troy Wilson Jr. currently leads Jackson State at the plate with a .481 batting average, having collected 13 hits in 27 at-bats, including two doubles. He has scored nine runs and has ten RBIs. Ledy Alvarez follows with a .361 average and six stolen bases out of eight attempts.
Pierre Cabral has also contributed with a .357 average and four doubles among his 15 hits, along with ten RBIs. Tyree Reed (.356) and Robert Tate Jr. (.310) are both hitting above .300; Reed has scored eleven runs and tallied ten RBIs, while Tate has scored eleven runs and driven in eight.
On the pitching side, Jayden Lopez holds a 2-0 record this season with a 5.91 ERA and thirteen strikeouts over ten-and-two-thirds innings pitched. Derek Arrocha (2-1) has struck out nineteen batters in just under twenty innings, while Kade Walker (2-1) has thirteen strikeouts in just over thirteen innings pitched. Jaedeyn Edwards leads the bullpen with two saves; Darius Dampier has one save.
