Jackson State athletes secure three wins at Samford Bulldog Open

Three athletes from the Jackson State Tigers track and field team achieved first-place finishes at the Samford Bulldog Open in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday.

Kaylin Jackson took first place in the women’s 800-meter race with a time of 2:20.20. Rickey Green III won both the preliminary and final rounds of the men’s 60-meter hurdles, recording times of 8.27 seconds and 8.16 seconds, respectively. His performance in the final set a new personal record for him as a sophomore. Dalon Harris secured first place in the men’s shot put event with a throw measuring 15.48 meters.

Other members of the Tigers team also posted new personal bests during the meet, including Janiza Wright (60m dash), Connor Cooper (60m hurdles), Kayla Williams (60m hurdles), Eric Lagat (3k), Collins Kibet (3k), Lorine Jelagat (3k), Joan Koech (3k), Kaiden Berry (weight throw), and Malayna Mallory (weight throw).

The Tigers will conclude their indoor season at the SWAC Indoor Championships scheduled for February 21-22.
