U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has reintroduced the RESTORE Act, aimed at providing personalized infertility treatment for couples in the United States. The legislation targets the 15 to 16 percent of U.S. couples affected by infertility and seeks to offer cost-neutral solutions through existing federal resources.
Hyde-Smith emphasized the need for a holistic approach, stating, “The holistic fertility policy promoted through the RESTORE Act aims to treat the root causes of infertility, many of which stem from chronic conditions and environmental factors that are the focus of President Trump’s MAHA movement.” She added that substantive fertility solutions should empower couples with autonomy over their family planning.
Senator James Lankford is leading as a cosponsor along with Senators Charles Grassley and John Cornyn. A companion measure will be introduced in the House by Representatives Diana Harshbarger and Riley Moore. Lankford noted, “Infertility is one of the most difficult challenges couples can face… The RESTORE Act prioritizes addressing underlying causes of infertility.”
The bill addresses reproductive health issues contributing to infertility such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, uterine fibroids, blocked fallopian tubes, hormone imbalances, hyperprolactinemia, thyroid conditions, and ovulation dysfunctions.
Support for this legislation comes from several organizations including AAPLOG Action and March for Life Action.
