U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), chair of the Senate Pro-Life Caucus, has issued a statement to those participating in the 52nd annual March for Life. The senator encouraged attendees to “remain vigilant against pro-abortion agendas, the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions, and attacks on religious liberties.”

Hyde-Smith is attending the march and is part of a group of congressional leaders who have sent a letter urging President Trump to restore life-affirming policies from his previous administration. The letter, signed by 36 Senators and 108 Representatives, calls for rolling back what they describe as oppressive pro-abortion policies from the prior administration.

Discussing this year’s theme for the March for Life, “Life: Why We March,” Hyde-Smith emphasized its importance as a reminder of why the movement remains robust. She noted that millions have gathered over more than five decades in Washington, D.C., to support life.

“With President Trump back in office, we have an incredible opportunity to build on the progress we’ve made to focus on policies that truly protect both mothers and their unborn children,” she stated. Hyde-Smith also called for “honest, thoughtful conversations” about policy decisions related to life issues.

Hyde-Smith highlighted June as marking three years since Roe v. Wade was overturned—a development she termed a “monumental victory.” However, she stressed that ongoing vigilance is necessary against pro-abortion initiatives.

In legislative efforts, despite Senate Democrats filibustering the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (S.6), Hyde-Smith expressed her commitment to promoting pro-life legislation. She supports several bills including:

– The Abortion is Not Health Care Act
– Protecting Life in Health Savings Accounts Act
– Unborn Child Support Act
– Protecting Life on College Campus Act
– Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act
– No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act

These measures aim at ending federal tax benefits related to abortion procedures and protecting rights related to prenatal diagnoses among other objectives.
