Green III wins 110m hurdles as Tigers secure five top three finishes at Joe Walker Invite

Rickey Green III led the Jackson State track and field teams at the Joe Walker Invite, held over the weekend, after winning the 110m hurdles for the second consecutive week, according to an April 11 announcement.

The event highlighted strong performances from several Jackson State athletes. Green III, a sophomore from Sacramento, California, finished first in his event with a time of 14.33 seconds. The Tigers recorded four additional top-three finishes in a competitive field.

Kaylin Jackson placed second in the women’s 800-meter race with a time of 2:13.25. Callie Calicut achieved a season best in the women’s 400-meter hurdles by finishing in 1:02.10. Kaiden Berry took third place in discus throw with a distance of 50.62 meters, while Sedgwrick Pitts Jr. secured third place in the men’s 200-meter dash by clocking in at 21.17 seconds.

Six athletes set new personal and season bests during the meet: Kierstin Mumford and Ashanti Patton (triple jump), Malayna Mallory (hammer throw), Robert Salhab III (discus throw), Eric Lagat (3k steeplechase), Duncan Koima (1500 meter race), and Gabrielle Langford (200m dash).

Jackson State will next compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational scheduled for April 16-18 in Atlanta, Georgia.
