Calhoun City High School secured a place in the finals of the 2026 MHSAA Basketball Tournament after defeating Piney Woods School 44-35 on Monday, March 2, 2026. The game took place during the tournament semifinals.
Calhoun City maintained a lead for most of the game. Piney Woods narrowed the gap to three points by the end of the third quarter, with the score at 32-29. However, Calhoun City outscored Piney Woods 12-6 in the fourth quarter to seal their victory.
Juszyant Garvin led Calhoun City with 21 points. Jaylon Jackson contributed 11 points and Carson Lawrence added six. For Piney Woods, Kemet Edoa scored 16 points and Natan Malinowski finished with 13.
The box score showed that Calhoun City made 16 field goals from 44 attempts and converted 12 free throws from 19 tries. Piney Woods made 15 field goals out of 35 attempts and went three-for-six at the free throw line.
The win advances Calhoun City to the championship round of the tournament.
