The Mississippi High School Activities Association announced on April 28 that the 2026 Lindy Callahan Scholar Awards luncheon will take place on April 30. The event will recognize high school students from across eight districts in Mississippi for their academic and extracurricular achievements.

The Lindy Callahan Scholar Awards honor outstanding student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and in athletics. Each year, two students are selected from each of the association’s eight districts to receive this recognition.

This year’s honorees include Emma Kate Beckham from Wheeler School and Rylen Mounce from Pontotoc High School representing District I; Eleanor (Ellie) Claire Jones of Oxford High School and Gavyn Bronach Leary of Lafayette High School for District II; Kaitlyn K. Price of Thomas Edwards Senior High School and Charles (Charlie) David Ray of Riverside High School in District III; Emily Mae Finkley from Grenada High School and Cameron Jackson Skeen from Louisville High School representing District IV; Julia Nicole Harrison of Union High School and James Connor Holifield (Connor) from West Jones High School for District V; Kinsley Cole Woods of Lake High School and Wilkes Patrick Carter of Puckett High School in District VI; Abigail (Abbie) Katherine Holder from Bogue Chitto School and Brendon Robert Duguid of Wesson Attendance Center for District VII; Makynley Christian Groom from Picayune Memorial High, along with Sullivan (Sully) Tresslar May from Resurrection Catholic High, representing District VIII.

The awards aim to highlight not only athletic talent but also academic dedication among Mississippi’s high school students. The annual luncheon serves as an opportunity to celebrate these accomplishments within local communities.

Looking ahead, the association is expected to continue its tradition by recognizing new groups of scholar-athletes at future events.
